A tall growing Ginger with lush tropical foliage on arching stems reaching anything between 2 to 3 meters in height. The stems are topped with attractive racemes of orange/ red to salmon pink, almost butterfly like flowers in late summer to early autumn. On warm sunny afternoons they release a heady honeysuckle like fragrance.
Happy in full sun to part shade although those grown in full sun are most likely to flower. As with many Hedychiums they do need a long growing season to reach flowering height so if growing permanently outside it is worth covering the plants with a large cloche in early spring to give them a good head start. Plant in a moist but well drained, humus rich soil and feed and water heavily once new growth starts appearing in late spring. Reliably root hardy in UK zone 9 gardens.
Sent as a young plant in a 9cm pot. May be cut back for shipping. Sent as dormant plants in winter.
