Ruby is a pink to deep red gemstone and a variety of the mineral corundum (aluminium oxide). It is one of the traditional cardinal gems which also includes amethyst, sapphire, emerald, and diamond. The element chromium gives Ruby it’s colour.
Zoisite, also known as saualpite is a calcium aluminium hydroxy sorosilicate belonging to the epidote group of minerals. Its chemical formula is Ca2Al3(SiO4)(Si2O7)O(OH). The mineral is between 6 and 7 on the Mohs hardness scale and its specific gravity ranges from 3.10 to 3.38 depending on the variety.
Rubycrosite is a conglomeration of both Ruby and Zoisite with various other mineral inclusions.
In crystal healing circles it is said to preserve the body and improve mental health.
