Evergreen ground cover with very shiny dark-bronze leaves and short spikes of deep-blue flowers appearing in spring. For the darkest coloured leaves grow in full sun, plants grown in shadier positions become more green but will darken again if moved back into full sun. Foliage can go almost black by mid summer if light levels are good.
The flowers are highly attractive to bees providing them with early nectar after their winter dormancy and can be used in wildlife gardens, containers, trailing over walls and even planted in a wildflower lawn. Due to its dark leaf colour it also looks exceptionally good planted with more brightly coloured foliage plants, especially those with golden leaves. Most soils, full sun to part shade, could not be easier.
Available as young plants in either 9cm or 1L pots.
