A tropical beauty originating from Australia that is usually grown as a house plant but is proving quite root hardy in warmer UK gardens. It will remain evergreen when grown in frost free conditions but when grown outside the foliage is usually cut right down to the ground by heavier frosts so protect with either a thick straw or bark chip mulch until all frosts have passed in the spring.
It produces lush green, strappy fronds on short stems up to 40cm in length when in growth and loves humus rich, moist but well drained soils and part to full shade. Planting below the canopy line of evergreen shrubs and trees will give the plant extra winter protection.
Sent as a young plant in a 9cm pot. May be cut back for shipping and will be sent as dormant plants in winter.
