A fast growing semi-evergreen shrub from South Africa with upright stems bearing linear, lance shaped leaves up to 12cm long. The foliage remains evergreen if kept frost free. Whorls of orangey red flowers usually appear in late summer to early winter but can be produced at any time of the year.
Not fully hardy but does seem to be able to survive mild winters outside when grown in the ground in zone 9 gardens. During severe winters we have had plants re-shoot from the root stock after being knocked back by prolonged minus figures. Plant in a sheltered spot with full sun and any type of well drained soil. Max height 2.5 meters with a 1.5meter spread.
Sent as a young plant in a 9cm pot. Sent as dormant plants in winter. May be cut back for shipping.
