A slow spreading grass forming tufted clumps of 50 to 100cm tall linear leaves in a vivid blue. Richer soils tend to produce the tallest growth but being a plant from South American coastal sand dunes it is quite happy in poor, well drained, nutrient deficient soils.
Reliably hardy if given well drained soil and will often remain in full leaf all winter if frost free. Colder nights and a heavier frost will knock the foliage down with new growth appearing in spring. Plants that do remain in leaf for the winter often get a bit untidy so a good haircut in early spring will allow plenty of fresher, cleaner growth to shoot through.
Full sun, well drained soil, tolerates strong, salt winds, what could be easier?
Sent as a young plant in a 9cm pot. May be cut back for shipping. Sent as dormant plants in winter.
