An attractive, architectural sedge with tall stems up to 1 meter tall topped with umbrella like, dark green, grassy, leafy bracts. Evergreen if grown in frost free locations and mature plants almost look like a miniature clump of palm trees. Looks particularly attractive planted next to large leaved exotics. Usually grown as a pond plant but equally happy in a rich, moist to moist but well drained garden soil. Seems to be reliably hardy in coastal areas and city gardens but requires some protection in colder parts of the UK. Usually a thick mulch of bark is adequate.
Sent as a young plant in a 9cm pot. Will be cut back for shipping.
