This clump-forming, deciduous perennial has ridged, spear-shaped, crumpled grey-green leaves, with upright stems. It produces beautiful racemes of violet-blue flowers; these appear from Summer to Autumn (June-October). Prefers to be positioned in full sun but can tolerant partial shade – drought-tolerant once established. Requires humus-rich, moderately fertile, acidic to alkaline, moist but well-drained soil such as; chalk, loam or sand.
