This mat forming, deciduous perennial has toothed, greyish green leaves that are furry underneath. It produces beautiful, white petals held together by large, deep purple-red centres, in Spring and Summer. To prevent self-seeding remove faded flowers. Position in areas of either full sun or partial shade and best near the front of a border. Requires acidic to alkaline, moist but well-drained soil such as; chalk, clay, loam or sand.
