A very fast growing tree that can easily be pruned to maintain as a large shrub or bonsai. An Australian relative of the South African protea it has fern like foliage and produces racemes of unusual yellow/ orange/yellow tubular flowers.
Although it is the least hardy of the grevillea we had been having some success overwintering one outside against a south facing wall in our own south coast garden, and it survived 4 winters before the extremely cold week we had in January 2023. Alas the three nights of -10c we had was just too much for it and killed it outright. That was unusually cold for our area so we will try again.
Plant in full sun in a moist but well drained to well drained, acid to neutral compost. Bring potted plants into the conservatory or heated greenhouse for the winter moving back outside in spring once all frosts have passed.
Sent as a young plant in a 9cm pot.
