This is a deciduous (may be evergreen in mild areas), suckering shrub with oval, dark green leaves. In Summer and Autumn, tall, open panicles of trumpet-shaped, reddish orange flowers appear. Position in full sun facing South in a sheltered spot. In Winter, protect with a dry mulch in frost-prone areas. Requires acidic to alkaline, fertile, well-drained or moist but well-drained soil, it will tolerate most types of soil.
