This is a clump-forming perennial with deeply divided, greyish green leaves sometimes tinged red. From April to May, it features on arching stems beautiful, heart-shaped, white tipped, scarlet flowers. Position in partial shade although if the soil is kept consistently moist then it will tolerate full sun. Keep in a sheltered spot. Requires neutral to alkaline, fertile, moist but well-drained or moisture-retentive soil such as chalk, clay or loam.
