This low maintenance, evergreen, clump-forming perennial is native to Malaysia. It features large, arrow-shaped, rich-green leaves up to 60cm across with long stalks up to 1.5 meters tall. Position in full sun to partial shade in a sheltered spot. Under glass position in bright, filtered light and high humidity in a loam-less potting compost. To stay evergreen it requires at least 10°C so will need to be kept under heated glass for the colder months to produce true giants. During the summer give it copious amounts of water and feed weekly. In Winter stop feeding and keep just moist. Proving reliably root hardy in UK zone 9 gardens if given a moist but well drained soil but will die back to the tuber after heavy frosts. New growth usually commences around Mid May. In very cold areas lift and store tubers, keeping frost-free, in slightly damp peat and in the dark, re-planting in late spring.
