A gorgeous Blechnum species with semi hard, deeply lobed fronds on mature plants reaching up to 1 meter in length. It is called the dwarf tree fern as it does produce a short trunk up to 100cm tall, this does take many years but they truly are beautiful so well worth the long wait. Although it can survive a mild UK winter outdoors it is best suited to a frost free conservatory, positioned in a shaded area out of full summer sun.
Plant in a moist but well drained, humus rich soil and coming from the rain forests of tropical South America does like high humidity so mist spray regularly.
Sent in a 9cm pot, no trunk. Our plants are exposed to cold during the winter so there may be some frond damage if ordering during the colder months. These are quickly replaced in the spring by fresh growth. Once new growth has come through remove the old fronds at the base. Amazingly our own plants outside have started to recover from the unusually cold week we had in January 2023 where they experienced several nights of -7c.
