Bumble Bee Jasper is vibrantly colored orange, yellow, and is formed from a mixture of volcanic lava and sediment. A carbonate-rich rock found on the island of Java and is relatively soft with a Mohs hardness of 5 or below. It’s easy to cut and polish.
Bumble Bee Jasper is actually a combination of volcanic matter, anhydrite, hematite, sulphur, arsenic, etc and there is much discussion over whether it is a true jasper or an agate. The yellow colouring is due to the presence of sulphur, which is toxic, as is arsenic so handling should be kept to a minimum and make sure you wash your hands after touching. Ideally display in a decorative glass case or container.
Sent as a polished stone similar to the one pictured and will be 3cm + long.
