This is a clump-forming, deciduous, upright grass with arching grey-green foliage. In Summer (June-August), beautiful, thin, feathery, plume-like, pale pinkish purple flowers appear, which fades light brown. Position in areas of either full sun or partial shade – better planted in full sun as it has a tendency to flop over more in the shade. Require acidic to alkaline, moist but well-drained or well-drained, fertile soil such as; chalk, clay, loam or sand.
