This evergreen shrub has fragrant, glossy, green leaves, which can be used to flavour cooking. It produces little yellow flowers in Spring, from March to May. Black berries may emerge on female plants in Autumn. Position in areas of either full sun or partial shade and keep sheltered from cold, drying winds. Perfect in containers and throughout its growing season make sure it is well-watered. Requires acidic to alkaline, well-drained soil such as; chalk clay loam or sand (most soils are tolerated).
