A reliably hardy (in southern parts of the UK) ginger with 1mtr tall upright to slightly arching stems, lush tropical looking foliage and a fantastic flower spike of orange/ red exotic flowers in late summer to early autumn. Anyone that spots it in your garden will want one. The leaves are aromatic when crushed releasing a strong ginger smell. Plant in a humus rich, moist but well drained soil with full sun and sheltered from strong wind. If really cold spells are predicted then either mulch heavily or lift the rhizomes and store like you would a dahlia.
Sent as a young plant in a 9cm pot. May be cut back for shipping. Sent as dormant plants in winter.
